Using a download accelerator with apt-get

I am trying to follow this guide, but the command

apt-get -y --print-uris package_name > debs.list

does not work.

Can anyone help?

The guide you point to lists this as part of an example of the command that you are trying to run to update a given package, in this case named package_name.

This one-line script creates a file called debs.list containing the uris from which you can download the script package_name.

In what way does it not work? Do you get an error message, or is the file not created? What are you using for package_name?

Any package name I try is incorrect. I wonder what it should be. The syntax of the command is wrong. I wonder what was meant by that incorrect command. Here is the syntax.

SYNOPSIS
apt-get [-hvs] [-o=config string] [-c=file] {[update] | [upgrade] |
[dselect-upgrade] | [install pkg...] | [remove pkg...] |
[purge pkg...] | [source pkg...] | [build-dep pkg...] | [check]
| [clean] | [autoclean] | [autoremove]}

Nope works for me all the time What distribution are you trying this on? I am not sure if apt rpm supports the --print-uris option.
