User Login script?

Hello all, I'm new at my company and am trying to get more familiar with Linux as fast as I can, and would appreciate any help!

The problem i'm having is when people from the company login through a telnet client they get a command prompt - I'd like instead for our database program to start immediately. How can I do that? I've tried searching for the answer, but my knowledge of linux lingo isn't so hot, and couldn't find the answer. Thanks for reading!

Whatever command line they type at the command prompt after login you can add as an exec to their .profile or .bashrc (the latter assuming they are using bash as their shell):

Usage is just "exec command"

Example "exec ls -lRa" would tell it to execute the "ls -lRa" (recursive directory listing) then when it was done it would exit.

You can type exec ls -lRa at the command line to see what it does - just remember it will close your window.

If you do NOT want it to exit you just add the command without the "exec" in front of it. Remember though that when they exit oracle it will put them back at the command prompt instead of logging them out.
