Useful software for teaching?

I'm thinking about maybe teaching about computers. So what useful software is there for teaching or doing presentations? Linux, Windows, or websites; as long as it is open source or free. Is there a free way to remotely share a desktop with a group of people?

For presentations I really love Beamer. It's part of latex. There is also simpress which you get with Libreoffice but I much prefer Beamer.

PS Oh, and for shared desktops I found this: http://www.devshed.com/c/a/BrainDump...-VNC-on-Linux/

I second Beamer, and Latex in general.
