use rpm to install package on debian

I want to install a package on debian server , but these is only a .rpm package ( not .deb ) , can I use rpm -ivh to install ( like redhat ) it ? thx

Try alien:

Code:

apt-get install alien
alien -d package_name.rpm
dpkg -i converted_package.deb

(alien -i package_name.rpm should install it in one command)

Try installing 'alien' to convert the package from RPM to DEB.
Google for it, there are guides/information available.

Alien is basically a Debian package so
# 'apt-get install alien' will do.

Hi, i´d just like to add that i did convert a kernel package to deb using alien ... and it worked! But alien is not meant to be used with critical packages...
