use of special escapes with enscript

Hi!
Im trying to use the special codes of escape but they appear in my document.
I think that in the line command it will be enable (-e || --escapes)
and then it must be present in the document previous enscript(source)
so that enscript recognize and replace it for example

my ^@bggray{.8}dog^@bggray{1.0} is green

this doesnt work
of course something im doing wrong but i dont realese.
thanks.

I've the same problem and 5 years was passed from this post! Does someone have an idea? I use the comman line: enscript -e -p pippo.ps pippo.txt, where pippo.txt is a file containing the line "^@epsf{filetoinclude.eps}", that was printed to pippo.ps and not interpreted? thanx all!

enscript -e option

When you use the -e option, you should follow the -e with the new escape character you want to use. I used the tilde ~ since that wouldn't happen to be in the text. So the syntax would be enscript -e~ ...

Then in the text, put something like ~font{Courier-Bold7.1} This causes the text to be Courier Bold 7.1 pt until another ~font command is issued.

Let me know how this works for you.

Thank you! Now it works. At your knowledge this can be done also for non-postscript output (i.e. enscript -w rtf?)
bye

Hi Eddie, please can you post an example command (the full command) of enscript escapes that works
I am trying to change text color but it doesn't seem to be working

Here is what I tried:
enscript -ptemp.ps -G -F Souvenir-DemiItalic20 -f Souvenir-DemiItalic20 -e --escapes -color ^@color{1 0 0} file.txt

Thanks

Hi forumbaba,
the command you need is this:

enscript -p temp.ps -G -F Souvenir-DemiItalic20 -f Souvenir-DemiItalic20 -e~ file.txt

The ~color{1 0 0} needs to go in file.txt and will change the colour from that point on.
Also thanks to EddieN1 as I couldn't get the escape thing working until I read that.

00Dog.
