use dd to copy a disk

Ok, I have a floppy that has a license key on it for a windoze program. The floppy that it is stored on cannot be seen under windows. XP complains that its not formatted. Under Ubuntu I can mount it and see it no problem.

So I want to copy the disk, including the VSN which the license is tied to. Any recommendations.

This happened to me a few weeks ago so I called the vendor which gladly sent me another license key. Only problem is, you are allowed just one incident per year, per license. So if I can't get it to do this my company is going to have to shell out another $XXXX.XX to get a new license.

Thanks,

Norm

Code:
dd if=/dev/fd0 of=filename.img
copies the floppy exactly byte-by-byte. The problem is, the license key floppy might have some form of protection against dd.
