Use a computer + modem for phone secretary

I have a very weird idea. I want to use my computer as a phone secretary and may be for recording phone conversations. I searched the web and I found that this is possible and even there is some programs for Windows which can be used to do exactly this. I searched for similar Linux software, but I didn't find anything.
And here is my question. Is it possible to do this with Linux??

Also, check around a bit, I distinctly remember seeing a thread like this where there is an excellent page on setting something like that up. I cannot find it right now of course, but if I come across it, I'll be sure to post it up. Things to search for:

I searched the forum for phone secretary and even only secretary and I didn't find anything, but now I'll try with the keywords you suggested.
