USB mouse - Mandrake 10

Anyone know why my USB mouse never works with Mandrake? It doesn't work when installing, or after install.

I have to use the converter USB -> PS/2.
I would just like to use the USB if possible.

It has never worked with one single distro of Mandrake.
It is a Microsoft optical blue mouse.

Thanks,
Chris

it could be how your motherboard turns on the USB port. example. My ABIT board. It just would not probe for awhile. say for Dos Boot Disks and so on. But the asus does different. See if you have a newer bios update for your motherboard or something. This is more of a motehrboard issue then linux. Not 100% positive on this. I do know of some boards that do this. Due to old Bios or the way the USB is being initialized. look in your bios too and see if there is anything that has a setting to wake usb before hand or something. What is your mobo and see if we can figure it out from there. Probes will not work if the USB does not get initialized before hand.

it's an MSI (Microstar) board. KT3 Ultra. And no, it only occurs with Mandrake. I dunno why. But redhat loads the usb mouse fine.
