I have a program that runs from the pc hardisk but need a usb key to run, i have my key but its about to completly crack. Its broken an i want to backup the key to another usb drive but I dont know how. If someone know how to clone an exact copy of a usb to another or know about a software that does it please help, the software developers dont care and want to charge me with 1,000 for a tiny usb key that i already have but nearly broken. thanks in advance

is this USB key a normal USB pen drive or is it a licence code dongle?

they are totally differnt though they look the same

soem software you can install on as many macines as you want but only run if you have the dongle inserted,

ie if you buy 3 licences you get 3 dongles

in short no.

this type of dongle has absolutly no simalaraties to a normal USB storage device except the case,

it is NOT a pen drive but a licence dongle that meerrly looks the same just like a bluetooth dongle is totally differnt but looks teh same

the chips are totrally different. and the key is porbabbly perminatly coded on teh harware side or with a PROM

the only realistic way of cloning woudl be to take the thing to bits, replace each component with a new one of exactly teh same model number, and then place teh original coding chip in the new key.

if the problem is only that the case is cracked then i would suggest making a new case or cabablisong a normal USB storage key's case of simaliar size to fit

if there are cracked traced on the PCB thease may be repaiarable with a little soldering skill

Please note that LQ does not allow discussions about cracking. This forum does not exist to help you circumvent restrictions on software, even if the vendor is being a pain in the posterior about it.
