urxvt + home key

I used to use aterm and everything worked great. I recently heard someone singing the praises of urxvt so I gave it a go and it's very nice. However my Home key doesn't work. When I press it all I get is an unwanted ~ (tilde) appearing. I've tried setting the termname to xterm-xfree86 with no luck, any tips would be appreciated, this isn't anything major it's just annoying as hell

I'm using rxvt-unicode v5.3.

Thanks

Set LC_CTYPE to what your keyboard really is. Try echo $LC_CTYPE to see what it's set to.

export LC_CTYPE=en_US in your ~/.bashrc should do it. You could also enable it for one session only by typing LC_CTYPE=en_US urxvt.

Of course, replace en_US with whatever keyboard and locale you have. I use sv_SE (swedish).

For some reason most distros come with bad /etc/inputrc file which causes problems like this. Here is a working one I found a long time ago:
Code:
## Linux-Mandrake Configuration
# (c) MandrakeSoft, Chmouel Boudjnah <chmouel@mandrakesoft.com>, Pablo Saratxaga <pablo@mandrakesoft.com>
#	$Id: inputrc,v 1.4 2000/03/27 12:13:17 chmouel Exp $

set page-completions off

# Show all if ambigious.
set show-all-if-ambiguous on

# 8Bits supports.
set meta-flag on
set convert-meta off
set input-meta on
set output-meta on

# Keyboard configuration

"[3~":delete-char # Suppr
