Urgently need help with synce


I have been working for 6 hours straight trying to follow every howto I can find. I need to get some files off my PPC.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

My god, where do I start? Wiki this and wiki that. the synce.org page. what else...

Where would you start?

I've tried so many howto's it's hard for me to answer with something useful. I guess I'd assume that I ought to start from scratch.

Well, first thing is I misread your post and thought you were just trying to get files off a PC. I have no experience with Pocket PC's, so I might not be much help. But anyway...

Can you connect to the device? If not, are you getting any errors?

Not sure what you mean by connect.

Actually, as a (possibly easier) work-around, if you can show me how to share a folder on the linux workstation I can write my pocket pc files to it through the wireless network using the file explorer on the PPC.

Assuming this device is running Windows CE, I would think that you would need to run Samba on the workstation. If you do a Google search for Samba and Debian, you'll find at least a few tutorials on setting things up.
