"when the time of showing the screen for username
and password comes the monitor screen blinks twice it shows blue , then black , then blue then black all this in within 2 seconds and then nothing" At that point switch to alternate console 3 by using the three finger command: <Ctrl><Alt><F3> You will get a login prompt. Login as root. Then run the command: sax2 sax2 will lead you through configuring your monitor. When you finish with sax2 then reboot with the command: shutdown -r now ---------------------------- Steve Stites |

You need to uninstall the nvidia drivers. The TNT2 is a very very old card, the new drivers don't support cards that far back. You might have some luck with nvidia drivers before 7174 but you'd still be pushing it. Just use the nv driver in xorg.conf (that would be what you had before) and live with no 3D acceleration. If you want to play games or something, then you'll need to upgrade your video card.
