Urgent!!!!

If i use diskdrake to partition during the mandrake 8 install,
it doesnt automatically recognize windows (like it says it will in the manual) and i would have to partiton myself
If i partition myself, and i resize the only partition i have which contains windows, will it erase the partition after i resize it?

Your safest bet before installing Drake would be to defrag your Win partition, making sure all files are moved to the front of the disk/partition. Then use a non-destructive partitioning utility like Partition Magic, fips, or Ranish partition manager (fips and Ranish are freeware) to resize the partition, leaving the rest free. Then proceed with the installation.

I am a newbie too but i have installed mandrake several times on my system to get it to work right lol,. I have mandrake 7.2. anyway... if 8.0 works the same way once you boot up your system with the install cd in u can hold down the F1 key and type lin4win and it will set up a partition inside of windows. anyway it works just fine for me except this silly winmdem i have but that will be fixed soon hope that helps
