UPS software for linux

I have been concidering buying an uninterupted power supply. They all come with windows software that automatically shuts down the computer if the power cuts out. Can this be made to work with linux?

This is a reason we don't. If you post a question and find your own answer, share with the rest of the members that use this site and world that browse it. Your finding may help the next person with the same line of questions.

Belkin!

I have two of them, and they come with software for linux. Although they list very old distro's there software has worked on every recent linux distro I have had. It is very nice softweare with a monitoring application, that can also be set up to control multiple computers that are plugged into the UPS.

I decided to purchase a UPS made by APC. It was a breeze to set it up on my linux system. It took only about 1/2 to 1 hour including a kernel recompile. I found this really nice doc on Gentoo forums.
