Upgrading to X.Org 6.8.1

I'm running Slackware 10.0. If I were to compile it from source could I just remove all the x11 packages and then install the new ones?

One might say, in an easy answer, yes. However, be weary of removing packages at random. Instead I'd upgrade the packages, then go through and using pkgtool to then remove the older/existing package. Keep the compilation around in case of missing libs after the uninstall. I suggest using something like checkinstall (htttp://freshmeat.net) to ease your process.

Cool
