Upgrading native Open Office 2.0 to 3.0 on Linpus Lite

I just bought an Acer netbook with Linpus Lite. The netbook comes with native OO 2.3. I downloaded OO 3, but when I try opening the file, nothing happens. What do I do to upgrade to OO 3? Do I need to uninstall OO 2.3?

First have you checked in your repositories (Package Manager) to see what the latest available version is in there? If possible, always install applications from your repositories, they have been packaged to install and run with the minimum of fuss for your platform.

Something happens (maybe not what you want) please be more descriptive and include any error messages if any.

Did you download a binary (.deb) or source (.tar.*)?

Hi Danny,
It would be much easier to help you if you would let us know where you downloaded Openoffice from. Was if from the openoffice website?
Cheers,
jdk
