upgrading kernel - won't give options for both nic's

I'm trying to install two nic's on a linux box of mine
I have a TI Thunderlan card and a 3Com 3CSOHO100-TX

In order to do so I need to update/recompile my kernel (2.2.25) to include drivers for the 3Com card. When running through the kernel config menu I activate support for the 3Com card but then config skips the option for including TI Thunderlan support.
Do I need to have both cards physically installed while running the config? I'm kinda stuck at this point so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ho Joseph!

Certainly not :) ...

Are you using "make menuconfig" to
set-up your kernel? Maybe some other
options on a higher level aren't turned
on ... let's say your Thunderlan was a
EISA card, but you forgot to turn EISA
support on in the General Setup-section.
Then it's going to be skipped...

Cheers,
Tink
