upgraded to kde 3.2.2 in Suse 9.0 XMMS wont work
So I've upgraded to kde 3.2.2. Its very very nice. Had some trouble, but seeing some of the posts helped me. Thanks guys. So my problem is that, aside from mostly everything working very well, my xmms wont work. I mostly listen to internet radio. So when i try to listen to a stream, it connects, pre-buffers, then ... nothing. the cd player seems to work just fine.

Just to add what may be useful information. Once in while (for example after I've re-installed xmms), I get this error message box.
Title: Couldn't open audio
Message: Please check that:
Your sound card is configured properly
You have the correct output plugin selected
No other program is blocking the sound card
So... how do i check that the sound card is configured properly? what could be impropper about it?
What plugin could it be talking about?
How would I check that another program is blocking the sound card?
please help

check if you can upgrade xmms .... because the one that came with SuSE 9.0 would be getting a little old. Which might cause some issues especially of the packager had a newer version ... and some dependency exists.
something else to try is switching to arts (or away from it ) in the KDE control panel / settings thing and telling xmms to use the plugin (or oss / alsa).

I've tried messing with the control center settings to no avail. Also, for anyone else that reads this, when i open YaST, I have about 20 major kde conflicts going on. Is this normal?

ONLY if you didn't remove the original KDE modules. Did you update using RPM or Yast?
AND did you use, SuSE packages, rather than generic ones?
Yast gives conflicts ... whenever you do something it did not forsee, which is quite often.
Try to resolve the conflicts, but that may well find you that KDE 3.2.2 no longer works. ... I dunno. stating to stay away from YAST is probably not the way to go because odds are you got SuSE for tools such as Yast.
Does XMMS work to play back mp3s?
