Upgrade to KDE2.2 - [Mandrake8.1]
 

I am trying to upgrade to KDE2.2

I have downloaded all the relevant files and tested all dependencies (rpm -Fvh --test *.rpm) and this is where I come unstuck! Where/how do I get the dependent files from? I have been told to use cooker or the dep's directory but I am unsure of how to do this. I have also used rpmfind.net but can't find the files I am looking for.

I have a list of the 7 files I need:

libdb-3.1.so
librpmbuild.so.0
librpmio.so.0
librpm.so.0
libxsltbreakpoint.so.1
libxslt.so.1
libpisock.so.3

Would be most appreciative if someone could point me in the right direction! Thanks in advance.

Ok, i take it you are using KDE 2.2.1 and wanna get 2.2.2. Here is the best way of doing that:

GOTO kde's ftp site and find mandrake and then drag the entire i586 folder onto your desktop or whereever you want to put it.

And then drop to the console and type rpm -Uvh --replacefiles --replacepkg --nodeps *.rpm

and your all set,

If you want i686 optimized RPM's for your KDE update, check out Texstar's RPMS, here is the link:

There is a KDE3 directory in the above link so DO NOT install those RPMS, those are the BETA release that are optimized for i686. Not to good for a newbie to be messing with.

Everything you will need can be found there. When I performed my upgrade of KDE on MDK 8.1, I used urpmi, nice little tool. I recomend that you install the lib RPMS first, i.e., urpmi lib* and then all the other packages in whatever order you wish. One package that you will need though now that I think of it is xanim which is required for the kdemultimedia package.
