Unhappy upgrade new kernel

Today I upgrade my linux box kernel to 2.4.18 from RH6.0 and kernel is 2.2.15. After compilation finished and reboot it. I choice the new kernel to boot and my linux box reboot again(Every choice the new one, result is same). What is the most likely problem? And how can I solve this problem? Thanks for reply!

Just a quick question...

Does it immediately reboot when you pick the new kernel?

And, did you run /sbin/lilo after you reconfigured lilo? Oh and did you make sure to point to the correct bzImage or whatever you called it?
