Exclamation Updating to Slackware 14.2 now KDE has no internet

I just upgraded to Slackware 14.2 and while I have internet from the login terminal (slackpkg and lynx have internet) and the boot shows both IPv6 and IPv4 addresses, once I go into KDE, there's no internet and apparently no way to activate it. I'm using a wired connection and it really should be possible to connect in KDE since the connection is there both before and after using X windows. I'm flummoxed and totally clueless about where to look.

When you say KDE has no internet, what exactly do you mean?

KDE is not a web browsers nor a mail or news client, so more detail is required. Have you opened a browser in KDE or opened a terminal and tried running lynx or diagnostics such as ping or traceroute?

What I mean is I use the KDE desktop. On the right side, the network connection icon says not connected. When I run network manager, it says eth0 is not available. I expected the X system to inherit the connection. BTW, lynx still functions.
