updating compilers in slackware

i know ive been causing you all a lot of trouble helping me but i have another question, im running slackware 10 and im having the worst time trying to compile this program, it reports back needed gcc, glibc, etc files when i try to run make and their version numbers were higher than my compiler versions now, so how do i go about updating my compilers? i havent done an update on anything in the kernel before but if someone could point me in the right direction id be thankful ^_^..

check out your local slackware mirror for newer packages. You may want to upgrade to slackware 10.1, it has all the newest packages, including glibc and gcc
