updating bios with linux?

Hi
I want to update my dell inspiron 1150 bios. but the dell website only offers .exe downloadables. i think just doing a "wine bios-update.exe" is not a good idea (or is it?)
http://support.dell.com/support/down...leaseid=R87748

on dell website, they speak about creating dos bootable floppies:
Code:
This file format consists of a BIOS executable file. To use it, download the file and copy it to a DOS-bootable diskette. With the diskette in the floppy drive, reboot the system and run the program
might this work? (I've unfortunately never done a bios update yet)

Is there a workaround, or a place where a linux executable can be found?

thanks alot

the bios is idependent of OS, you should boot to a boot floppy and do it from there.

There isn't a work around. You can not update the BIOS using linux.
Copy the file to a DOS bootable floppy disk.

Reboot the PC with disk inserted into the drive. The BIOS needs to be configured for booting from floppy.

Once the PC has rebooted run the update application.
