updating an openoffice installation?
I'm using mdk 10 and i'd like to update my openoffice installation from 1.1 to 1.1.2. when i type ./setup -net , it says it can't update cuz it's a different language version. (i'm using english). it then allows me to install to a new directory. how can i fix this, as i think both versions are english. if i can't update, then how do i do a clean install so that icons are created for the programs? thanks.

Has OO 1.1 been installed by MDK?
Are you trying to install from the original tarball from oo.org? Because the installation program for that one is install, not setup. Setup you only need to run per user once install is done ... Cheers, Tink |

1. i uncompressed the gz file and opened up a terminal window from within /home/username/openoffice-temp/ (<---terminal window is this directory) 2. typed in ./install (it unpacked a bunch of files w/in the terminal to /usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.1.2 3. still within the /home/username/openoffice-temp/ window, i typed ./setup . this installs it to /root/OpenOffice 4. I click on the old openoffice writer icon and it opens up v 1.1.0 rather than 1.1.2. i couldn't access the /root/ files so i dunno where to get the new program links. any ideas? |
After the
./install you cd /usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.1.2 and ./setup from there ... Cheers, Tink |
