Update the kernel

Hi, I currently using Mandrake 10.0, I still use the kernel that is shipped on the cd. Im in process of updating it with the 2.6.12.4 from kernel.org

I did these step to compile and install it :

make xconfig
make bzImage
make modules
make modules_install

mkinitrd /boot/myinit.img 2.6.12.4

cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/linux-2.6.12.4

I add a new entry in my lilo.conf , reboot chose the new kernel

It's work, however i got a weirdo msg while booting like someothing usbdevfs not in kernel...

Also, none of my usb device is working, when i connect/disconnect a usb device no regular dmesg is appended to the log, actualy nothing is appended to the log...

In the config progy that pop with make xconfig, i selected most of the usb option (everythibg except experimental) one.

If someone can help me on this i will appreciate ;-)

Speaking of configuring the kernel, for performance setting, wich is the best, i choose amd as processor and pre-emptive, my use of the 'puter is desktop user, software dev (gcc) and some 3d game

thanks all
