update system giving "Success - empty transaction"

I'm getting success - empty transaction failed
when dependency resolution failed when I try to update a package.

when I tried again I got this error

kernel-uname-r = 2.6.26.6-79.fc9.i686 is needed by package kmod-nvidia-2.6.26.6-79.fc9.i686-173.14.12-5.lvn9.1.i686 (livna)

( running on fedora 9 )

do I need to update my kernel ?

edit : I found this command on a fedora forum

yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing-newkey --skip-broken

It updated alot of packages, but still getting the system update and the same error.
