up2date problems...
Ok, Fedora tells me there are 600-some updates for Fedora, and I run up2date, but when it gets to the point of installing it all, it hangs there and my status light goes off like it isn't doing anything. Has anyone else had any problems like this? I'm a noob.

IIRC up2date connects directly to the Red Hat servers, which are getting hammered (even more than usual) due to the release of Fedora Core 4.

Yum connects to mirror sites, and is generally much faster:

su -c 'yum update'

(and enter the root password when prompted).

Hmmm when I do that my terminal freezes for some just says:

[root@localhost ~]# su -c 'yum update'
(blinking cursor-text-thingy bar)

And I can't do anything else. It doesn't even prompt for a password! The weird thing is, I can close it just fine, its still responding...I HATE being a Linux noob.

Try doing the update in console mode. Shutdown your gui by doing ctrl-alt-f6, login as root, do "init 3" and then "yum update".
