up2date not registering username

I used up2date my Redhat Linux 9.0. I come to the last steps but after clicking the forward button on the up2date agent, it says that there is a problem registering the username. In the second step of registration, I enter the user account that already exists. I have created that on redhat's website. Even then, it does not seem to understand the existance of the user. Please suggest me in what way I can use it or use something else to update my Redhat Linux 9.0

RH9 always had problems with Up2Date. While it was current, there was a fix on the RH website for this - you had to update Up2Date. You could do a search on the RH site or, alternatively, install YUM and do updates with that.

Yes, YUM is yummy!

hey thanks for the information dude!....

And, I have installed yum and just made an attempt to update my RH 9. To my surprise, because of not updating my system for a long time, I got updates of more than 100 according to it. It was compartively easier to use yum which update from three website (names I dont remeber). Atleast, there is no registration of username and account and stuff!

Also, since RH9 is no longer supported, I don't think RH are releasing anything more for the distro. YUM is an excellent tool.

If you wish to keep using an RH distro, I'd suggest installing Fedora Core 3 - it's Red Hat's bleeding edge release and is being used as a test bed for apps to be used in the RHEL releases.
