up2date certificate problems

rpm -Fvh up2date-3.1.23.2-1.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
up2date = 3.1.23 is needed by (installed) up2date-gnome-3.1.23-1

I get this error when i try to install the new certificate for up2date, does this mean that up2date needs up2date = 3.1.23 is needed by (installed) up2date-gnome-3.1.23-1 but does (installed) mean it is already installed?

what do i do?

What you need to do is to download all the required rpms and then install as one:
rpm -Fvh <package1>.rpm <package2.rpm> etc Otherwise you get the conflicts.

I recommend this program:
http://apt.freshrpms.net/

You can use the command line version or the GUI interface (synaptic) - I have found the GUI program to be A LOT more user friendly but it seems to freeze up. The command line version thus far has been FLAWLESS, and the commands aren't cryptic.

Basically you issue a command like "apt-get install up2date" and it will go out and fetch all the required dependencies so you can easily install up2date.
