up2date automatically removes LPRng and installs CUPS!!

Hi all,

rightly or wrongly, we chose to install LPRng onto a Redhat Server (version below)

Linux 2.4.21-32.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue May 17 17:52:23 EDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

anyway... every so often Up2Date automically runs on the server and removes LPRng and installs CUPS. As you could imagine, this causes a slight problem to all of the printers!

How can I stop Up2Date from automatically running. I've look at up2date-config but I'm not sure how to do it?

Thanks,

GReg.

run from a terminal up2date-config -nox
then change item #20. pkgSkipList
Normally this lists kernel*, change it to also include cups. This prevents cups from being installed.
As far as removing LPRng, have no idea. Maybe preventing cups install will also prevent the removing of LPRng as a side effect, hope so.

BTW, If I were you I'd use Redhat's subscription web-support and ask them. They've always been helpful for me... and that's what we're paying for.
