unusual experiment: fedora 10 installation error
hi,
i am trying to install fedora 10 in rather an unusual way, without actually burning a dvd. it started fine, but am getting an error. pl look into this whole episode.
steps:
01. i made a partition and then extracted the fedora 10 iso onto that.
02. i edited the grub.conf file to have an entry ("install") giving the partition, kernel and initrd values.
03. reboot and select ("install").
then, it all started fine, i could see the anaconda starting fine. i entered the 'language', 'keyboard'. the fedora 10 screens are really looking good.
but after boot-loader options, it is giving this error:
------------------------------
"The installer couldn't find image #1. Please copy that to the hard drive and try again."
[Exit / Retry]
----------------------------
thats all. 'Retry' is gives the same error., and 'Exit' just reboots the system again.
What should i do now? Is this the correct way """ to avoid burning a dvd everytime i choose to upgrade my linux distro""""
I am not a newbie, but can't figure out the cause of this error. Can some one help me?
