I have tried to install Linux *at least* TWENTY times. I was originally going to install Linux Mandrake 7.2 with Lnx4Win. Everything went fine until the configuration of X. I get an error that says "Unusable Depth" please select another one. How am I supposed to select another one if it wont let me? I thought installing Mandrake another way would solve my problem so I installed it in a low resolution installation on its own partition of the hardrive. I thought it was going to work until I got to the installation of X, yup... " Unusable Depth once again" and also some other error. I always have to do a cold reboot and linux wont start. I am using an SiS 630/730 graphics card with a 900 mhz AMD athlon. 8mb of the 96 megs of RAM on the machine are shared video. I have tried putting a compaq video card from a very old compaq machine into the computer. But I cant use my mouse then because the card requires that you connect some type of cable onto it, because a mouse normally plugs into the side of the keyboard.
