Unresponsive hotkeys in Nedit

Sometimes when I try to use hotkeys in Nedit, like Ctrl+S or Ctrl+C, etc - I need to hit them twice before it actually does something. I don't think this has anything to do with my keyboard. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

This seems to be a bug in nedit, at least in the version included in Debian Woody.
I have the same problem, it's especially irritating when doing much copy & paste.
