The windows version works fine.. Use the installer on disk 3
Take a look at the official unreal2k3 page and there's an explanation on the disknaming issue.
I ran into the same problem until i discovered that i had forgotten about the juliet namingformat. So that my files didn't show up with the right names..
As soon as that was fixed everything else worked like a dream.

I disabled supermount as per advice, but when it comes to unmounting the drive or the next CD I get

lemme see i think i can help you with this question.

how are you unmounting?

are you using "umount /dev/cdrom"? that should do it.
/mnt/cdrom is just the mount point. you want to use the device label.

I was unmounting the idiiot way... by not being root first.
