unreachable websites and firefox

I have had this problem before: I am using nciku.com, the website manager is not the best, and it has downtime. My isp somehow 'sees' that the webpage is unavailable, and redirects me to www.jscity.net/dns/?host=www.nciku.com, which is a kind of news/info site.

The next day, I try and I think, nciku.com is still not there, but when I start the girlfriend's Win laptop, it is available.

So I go to Firefox window >Help>Troubleshooting Information

There is a button: Reset Firefox.

After that, I can reach nciku.com again.

Is this a Linux problem, a Firefox problem, or a combination of both?

Cleared all cookies, if that's what you mean. Did not help.

Cookies and cache are not the same thing.

Edit-->Preferences-->Advanced-->Cached Web Content-->Clear Now.

It's not essential, but it wouldn't hurt to restart Firefox after doing that.

I just clicked on your link using SeaMonkey and found myself on 百度. I see your location is listed as China. Having the browser highjacked is not a Firefox problem. It is a fact of life living in China. Experiment with different routes to a site. For example; if you type the address or use a bookmark for Yahoo.com and the browser is redirected to Yahoo.cn, enter Yahoo into a search engine and click the link to Yahoo.com. I cannot offer any advice for the website you are trying to access, but try getting to it by an indirect method.

@frankbell. Thanks, next time I get this, I'll try that.

Don't know why you get 百度。nciku is working fine now.

Yeah China reroutes anything connected to google. gmail is hard to use here in China. I switched to qqmail.
My problem was, getting stuck with the rerouting of nciku.com after it came back online. So maybe there was something in the cache doing that.
