Problem reading .rcc file(ELF maybe?)

First off, my name is Chris and I am new here. I mainly deal with HTML, XHTML, CSS, and customizing PHP/MYSQL open source.

I told someone I would help with their website because they had a 'falling out' with their webmaster. Then I look at the website and it uses file extension .rcc(index.rcc, about.rcc, etc.) The only PHP script I can find is a simple search, it calls several different javascripts and interacts with a MySql database, but I can't figure out how.

I am trying to change some text(on about.rcc) but I can't find a valid editor for this. I have opened it in notepad and I will include a few lines at the end of this.
In the document, I can find the text I need to change, and some MySql commands, but other than that, well you see. Someone told me I was looking at a Linux executable?

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou much

Chris

EDIT: I have done some research and it seems this is done with ELF, but I can't find any help on how to make the code readable(to me).

Could you please move this post to the newbie forum.
You could actually consider this new now, since I don't believe .rcc to be the problem, which makes my title not desciptive enough. The post that was closed had a more fitting title.

Thanks,
Chris

It could be a Linux executable. Is it running on a Linux machine? If so, do you have access to the command line on the machine? The "file" command tells you what kind of file it is. I have never seen anything with ".rcc" extension; but then extensions don't really matter in Unix. I wonder if the web server (what web server do you have?) is specifically configured to run .rcc files, because files with random extensions aren't usually executed. If it really is an executable, then you may not be able to "edit" it unless you can find the source code. Maybe someone else can help you more with this.

Thanks for the reply spooon, I don't know which forum this should be in

It is running on Linux.....

Ok, I just did your recommendation and output is:

file /home/web/tanwest/about.rcc
/home/web/tanwest/about.rcc: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.2.5, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), not stripped

Apache server. I have full access to the server and all files, unfortunately, I don't know anything about this file type.

I can't find any source code either, these are the files in the directory
ls /home/web/tanwest
TanWestLease.doc
about.rcc
bin
category.rcc
contact.rcc
error404.html
finance.rcc
image
index.rcc
js
login.rcc
logout.rcc
policy.rcc
product.rcc
product.rcc.old
restancontact.rcc
rtwebSyncApplet.jar
selectsalon.rcc
store.rcc
tanwest.css
tanwest3.tar.gz
user.rcc

I thought maybe it was pulling from a database, but I manually went through all tables and the text that I need to change is not in there.

This is a huge learning experience for me so(I did my first shell command last night while trying to figure this out)If there is any more information you need that may help you help me, please let me know.

Thanks
Chris
