UNIX Servers

Hello,
I am planning on putting my UNIX server (Red Hat 9) back online tomorrow, but I was wondering about making some last minute changes to my plans. My server got hacked in October and I had to take it off the internet. I am not restricted really to what UNIX operating system I have to run.

Here is my question:

Which OS would run over the other (talking about servers), and why:
Sun OS 9 or Redhat Linux 9?

Thank you for your help!

-Derek

Is this an x86 box? If so I wouldn't suggest Solaris because there hardware support for x86 is pretty awful. What I would suggest is building grsecurity into your kernel, using an iptables firewall, and limiting what network servers you run.

Don't use any insecure protocols. FTP and Telnet are not acceptable if you want to be secrure. Viable replacements are ssh and sftp/scp.
