Uninstallation of Red Hat 9.0


I want to uninstall Red Hat n install Mandrake...
When i try to format my linux partition thru windows using partition magic...my pc doesnt boot...
the grub loader fails to load n i dont get to see da windows OS menu...
My hd structure is as follows
hda 1 ---> Windows XP Pro
hda5 ----> Windows 98 SE
hda6 ----> Red Hat 9.0
plz help...
how shud i uninstall red hat?

When you install mandrake, it should give you a partition format utility. If not, you can always log in to RedHat as root and type rm -rf / (it will delete everything on hda6)

But after it removes everything will my pc boot
Coz during boot it searches for grub loader n after formatting it being absent it will fail 2 load n i cant boot into any OS....
Thts related to MBR (Master Boot Record) i think...any suggestions??

yes, it will delete your grub.conf, but if you install Mandrake it will write a new one. There are commercially available bootloaders available to install thru windows, (If you plan on waiting awhile to install Mandrake) but I've never used them.

Wot do i havta do...if i want 2 get rid of GRUB ...i.e. only windows partitions....how do i uninstall tht grub from MBR
