Uninstall software

I have downloaded Realplayergold11.bin and installed it in the /home/sunil Directory. I think it is the wrong place to install and would like to unline the current installation.

How can I do it, Is by deleteing all folders under realplayer?

any more steps involved?

I think the best place was /usr/local

correct?

Supposing you have installed it there as a user (not with admin rights) then simply deleting the directories should be sufficient.

Thank u bitpicker for immediate reply

One more doubt. The icons of the music files(like mp3) have changed the type of realplayer. Will it change?

Simply removing the player without installing a new one will probably result in a broken binding. The icon will probably disappear along with the program, but that doesn't mean that your GUI can automagically revert to a different program.
