Do you still want to be able to run Qt based apps? Do you still want some of the KDE apps but just not to use KDE as your Window Manager/Desktop Manager?

I'm not a Debian user but doesnt it use packages? .deb? Just use the package manager to remove KDE and dependancies, and then install the latest versions of all those apps, which you've downloaded.
