Unexpected shutdown
 
my system has been shutdown unexpectedly due to power failure now my system is giving me some error msg whenever i try open terminal or anything the first msg when loading GUI is
an error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for gnome-panel some of your configuration setting may not work properly..the menue application has disappear and everything from desktop im using RedHat Enterprise Linux WS version 4.. i dont't want to reinstall OS again as i have data.. and lots of work has been done.. any help would be much appreciated.

Hi.

You should get away with just moving your ~/.gconf directory somewhere else. Then kill the running gconfd process and try logging in again. That should be enough to clear the gnome config.
