undefined reference to pango_font_map_create_context

I've been trying to install Wesnoth from source (using Slackware). I've installed the newest pango and the newest cairo. I believe I installed the packages that were listed on the site as prerequisite (and then some).
When running make, it ended with this error:
Code:
/usr/local/lib/libpangoft2-1.0.so.0: undefined reference to 'pango_font_map_create_context'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
...

Does anyone know what I could be missing, or what would be causing this problem? The only things I've installed that I could see affecting this (going by the erorr) are cairo, pixman, and pango.

P.S. I'm aware of the Wesnoth packages for Slackware but I was just installing it from source to install it from source, basically.
