unconsciously delete /usr
Dear all, unconciously deleting /usr folder. Can i recover back the files because the /usr folder is not fully deleted. The lost thing is /usr/lib and /usr/bin. Can i recover back the deleted thing. FYI the file system is ext3

What distro? If it's newer, there should be a "Repair" installation option which should return your system to a useable state. Apart from that, I don't think so...

What I have is another install on a different partition. I put it there when I did something similar. Lost a good bit of /usr.
I did the install on another partition, then copied the files over. If you have some custom compiles, you will have to do them over. A bit of a pain, but not too bad. |
Yeah, the lucky things is the data is seperate partition. So the only choice is intall the operating system.... thank you buddies
