Unable to run X applications remotely

I am unable to start any X applications remotely due to some sort of problem with my machine. When I telnet into a remote machine and try to start an application which attempts to bring up an X window, the application is unable to start the window. I have verified that my DISPLAY environmental variable is set correctly, plus I have executed "xhost +" on both my machine and the remote one. Is there some basic configuration or setting I am forgetting?

Both my computer and the remote one are loaded with Redhat 7.3. I also use KDE as my windowing environment.
