Unable to record in MythTV using Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150
I've just managed to get my TV card (an Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150) to work under Linux, and it works beautifully with MythTV. I've even got the TV guide working thanks to xmltv, but there's one snag - from the TV guide, if I go into the details for a program, the options to schedule it to be recorded are greyed out - so I can't record anything.
How can I fix this?

Yeah Live TV works fine - I've got all the channels I want, I just can't record anything.

The only thing I can think of while I'm away from my Myth box is that the directory you've specified for storage of TV recordings either doesn't exist or isn't writable by the MythTV user.. I'm only guessing here, but it might be worth checking.
Also, try going to Live TV and recording a program directly by pressing 'R' on the keyboard during the broadcast - see if any error message appears. Actually, it might be worth running mythfrontend from a console and seeing if any useful messages are displayed (you'll probably have to 'alt-tab' out of mythfrontend to see the console, depending on your window manager)..

Cheers, I'll give it a go when I get home. I'm fairly sure the permissions are set right but I'll check them just in case.

Recording by pressing R during a live broadcast. Also, if I enable the myth web console and access it via my web browser, I can schedule recordings (but I haven't tested this to see whether it actually records yet - gonna do that tonight). So it seems that I just can't schedule recordings through the guide in MythTV itself.
Odd.

I have an almost similar problem:
I used to have Mythtv 0.19 installed, and everything worked perfectly excluding mythtranscode. Which meant that I could not convert nuv files to a usable format.
I then upgraded to Mythtv 0.20
My main problem is that I cannot schedule recording, whether this is done through the guide or manually.
I would do all the steps, and enter save settings. And then go to Upcoming Recordings. There I would be met with a message saying that I have not scheduled anything.
Recording whilst watching Live TV works fine, but this beats the purpose of the whole PVR thingy doesn't it.
Mythtranscode also does not work here! And I have not been able to archive any programmes onto a Blank Disc!
If there's anyone who can help! Please do ... and treat me like a newbie i.e. Step by step!
Thanks
Mamolefi!

Problem solved:
I found the following response here: http://www.mythtvtalk.com/forum/view...t=4880&start=0
After so much response I found the solution.
I changed the hostaddress from 127.0.0.1 to my address (for mythweb) and forgot to change the masterbackend address in the mythtv-setup. Now it works.
best regards
hans-peter
