Unable to read Solaris backed up tape in RedHat Linux

Hi,

I am using RedHat Linux. I have a tape backed up in Solaris.

When I try to read this tape on a Linux box, using "tar -xvf /dev/st1" it gives an error as "permission denied". If I use the same tape in Solaris, I am able to read it. The tape is in write protected mode.

There are other solaris tapes that are reading fine in Linux box. Only one tape is giving this error.

Could any one please help?

Thanks in advance,

Manne

Hi I got the solution. The tape was backed up using the root user and had read permission only for root user. Now, I logged into Linux box as root user and it is reading the tape now..:)

Thanks to everyone who read this...

Manne
