Unable to install java on Fedora Core 6, jre-6-linux-i586-rpm.bin


jre-6-linux-i586-rpm.bin is the file i got off of the java website, among others i have tried to install, if i could get some help. one said i had the wrong encoding, and this one says that there is no package to be installed

Sounds like you forgot to do some reading. As root or equivalent type;

chmod u+x <the name of the bin file here>
./<the name of the bin file here>
