Unable to install Flash to ydl 6.1 on PS3
Hello everybody,
I am very new to this so please excuse my ignorance. I have finally installed ydl 6.1 onto my ps3. 1. I have updated all software 2. Flash is in installed software My question is: How do I get Flash run? I am new to programming and will need help with commands. How do I change to root in terminal? Does ydl 6.1 have drivers for Epsom SX400 printer or where can I souce one? Thank You |
Hi David,
What exactly do you want flash to do? Usually it's a plugin for your browser that lets you watch videos on youtube, for example. If that's what you want then you don't have to do anything once the plugin is installed. Just point your browser at a website with flashvideos and you should be able to watch them. cheers, jdk |

Have tried to watch videos such as youtube but nothing appears not even still image of video. Checked package installer and flash plug in is there. I am such a newbie I need help Thank you |
Hi David,
What browser are you using? You need to install a flash plugin for that browser and install it. You can either use a flash-plugin package provided by your distro or you can go to the adobe site and download the flash player/plugin software. The main thing is that one way or the other you wind up with a file like this: Code:
libflashplayer.so Quote:

Flash Installer

Have found libflashplayer.so in th tmp folder along with flashplayer- installer and are still none the wiser. Cheers David |
Hi David,
Flash Player 7.0 is VERY old. The current version is 10. You'll need to get a more up to date one. I explained how to do that in a previous post. Your only task is to place the libflashplayer.so in the correct location. If you are a single user on your system then you can place it in the ~/.mozilla/plugins folder. Be sure that any other flash-related plugins have been removed. Typing Code:
about:plugins Cheers, jdk |

Sorry to be a pain. I must need more clear instructions as I seem to not be able to do anything right. Where is "navigation bar of firefox" located? How do I find it? Is my "home folder" the one in the file system under computer icon? When typing I need to know where. Once again I am sorry but I did warn you I am such a newbie. Thank you David |

Code:
about:plugins Open a terminal and type Code:
whoami On a file manager it is typically represented by a picture of a house. If you are looking for a folder to unpack the flash plugin then /tmp is a good choice. I hope this is a bit clearer now. I would strongly suggest you click on the linuxquestion menu item "Tutorials" and read some of them. Cheers, jdk |
