Unable to install any OSes

I want to install Windows XP on my old computer:

1.8 GHz Celeron
512 DDR333
SiS Motherboard
Onboard AC'97 Sound
GeForce 4 MX420 64MB DDR
Generic 32x16x32x CDRW Drive

The computer was running fine with Fedora Core 3. Then I decided to go back to Windows XP and experiment with Dual Booting. So I set out finding my recovery disk. I found the Disk and Stuck it in the CDRW Drive. Everything went well:

A few seconds later:

Thats right, you cant see anything on the screen. The whole installer stops responding. And the screen goes blank. My HDD LED stays on, but I cannot hear it doing any work. I left the system like this for 5 minutes hoping it would pull through, but it wouldnt. So I pressed some keys (enter, etc) on the keyboard, and the thing started beeping on every key press. So I rebooted. Again the same thing. It inspects the hardware config, then stops working.

So I set out installing linux (Fedora Core 3) hoping I could find a solution that way. Heres what happened:

The "X" server could not be started. The installer crashed.

I am now unable to install Linux or Windows. But ATM the HDD has a working Fedora Core 3, but I want to switch to Windows XP (to do some dual booting).

Any help on how to install XP will be highly appreciated.

Hmmmm...... interesting. Shot in the dark, you might have an underperforming power supply.... I've seen some funky things happen when the system doesn't get the power it needs. During install your CDROM and HD are pulling juice off the 12v rail pretty good, and that can cause issues if the MoBo isn't getting enough power.

Ive had this system for 3 years now, and over the course of 3 years I have formatted an re-installed numerous times.

Is there some way to wipe the hard drive and start over?
