if you have the grub with a flashing cursor you can try my troubleshooter without, at this stage a re-install....see my signature
also read my tutorial so you can understand the grubspeak please. (2) I do not have this distro but if you are still having troubles you could use a live cd such as knoppix to re-install grub linking to its booting files as per tut or if that is not an option for you pls post what type of drives you have and their partition order and system makeup eg ide drive 1 XP on single partition (c) Sata drive 2 P1 swap p2 /boot p3 / |
Having a problem installing Linux
I am trying to install Red Had Linux and am using 20 GB harddisk. I have assiged 10 GB for Windows and 10 GB to LInux,
5gb to / root. 300mb to swap 400 mb to /boot rest to /home directory. Once I install the Red hat it ask me to reboot the computer and when I do that then I only get the blinking curson next to GRUB GRUB _ And nothng happens |
well we are almost there
What kind of drive do you have .....ide or sata or scsi? what are your partitions, now show them like this from your memory? or you could boot a live cd and run fdisk or qtparted or maybe RHAT has a terminal rescue function where you can type fdisk /dev/hda P = primary E = extended L = logical p1 = p2 = p3 = p4 = extended p5 =l = p6 =l = etc |
